We recently received the exciting news we’d been eagerly anticipating – official confirmation that our Connaught Head chef – Pete Tofis, has been shortlisted for Chef of The Year in the BH Star Awards.
The Awards, which celebrate regional talent in the hospitality sector, focus on businesses based in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and the surrounding catchments and we’re enormously proud of Pete for being one of just 11 chefs to be recognised in this prestigious dining category.
The winners will be announced at a glamorous gala award ceremony, due to take place in just over a fortnight’s time on March 14th. So until then we’ll be suffering a nail biting wait to find out if Pete will reign supreme in his category and be crowned the tremendous accolade of Chef of The Year 2019.
Pete has been part of The Connaught Hotel family for many years and has been instrumental in shaping our new all day dining menu for Blake’s Brasserie. The Brasserie is taking a short hiatus at the moment, as we’re giving it a fresh new look with a full refurbishment, along with an exciting new menu to go with it! We’ll be open again from the end of March for hotel residents and the public to enjoy lunch and dinner with us in our brand new ambient dining room.
We offer a wide choice of dishes, created with flair and finesse, using locally sourced produce wherever possible, such as our delicious Dorset Mackerel starter and our selection of mouth watering steaks, served with skin on fries, grilled tomato and are topped off with a Café de Paris butter.
With Pancake Day soon upon us, Pete has also produced a great recipe for his “Ultimate buttermilk pancakes served with summer berries and a hot chocolate sauce” (or ‘Pete’s Pancakes’ as we like to call them)!
In honour of Pancake Day, (and Pete) we’re giving away an afternoon tea for two at The Connaught Bournemouth for the best pancake picture captured!
